We contribute to the promotion of inclusive sports together with the Alba Sports Club.
The cycling team is made up of about fifteen athletes and has a long history, being a benchmark team in Spain as a cycling team made up of people with other abilities.
It is worth mentioning the annual challenge, a long distance route of more than 300 kilometers in 5 or 6 stages, and the participation in the Special Olympics.
At ISPROX we started a sponsorship with the non-profit association Grup Alba, being the main sponsor of its cycling team, made up of fifteen athletes.
The Alba Cycling Club was founded in 2005 with the aim of promoting the practice of sports for people with a great spirit of self-improvement. It began with routes and short rides around the region, but the cyclists themselves wanted to go abroad and discover new routes.
They themselves are the ones who make the proposals for possible long routes, which are normally done in good weather. So much so that in 10 years they have done routes in Holland, France and Spain. So far they have done the following routes: the Camino de Santiago (May 2006), the Via Augusta (June 2007), the Canal du Midi (June 2008) and the Ruta del Quixote (May 2009). The project for 2010 was the Vía de la Plata (May 2010), the Vías Verdes de Girona, the route of the Bandoleros de Andalucía, etc.
Over the years, the cycling project has grown and in addition to the 15 cyclists who do the long distance routes, groups of different levels have also been created depending on the abilities of the participants. From people who ride tricycles and people who have now learned as adults to cycle, all of them weekly perform sports training around the town.
The Club has received one of the Inclusive Awards of Catalan Sport for the project "The dream: the long-distance cycling route to go around the peninsula".
"Being able to be part of such beautiful and inclusive initiatives like this makes us proud and gives us encouragement and enthusiasm to continue helping the communities around us."
